At 18, Johan Adam Moser arrived in Philadelphia from Germany in 1728, the first Moser family member to immigrate to America. Johan Adam Moser was born in Rheinbischofsheim, Baden-Württemberg, Germany (see map). In 1730, he married Anna Maria Boehm, also a German immigrant. They had one child, Jacob Moser (1752-1813), born in Berks, Pennsylvania.

Jacob Moser married Elizabeth Onstott in 1780 in Randolph, North Carolina, and they had six sons and four daughters. One of their children, Solomon Moser (1796-1872), married Mary Anne Foust, and they had one son, Henry Moser (1830-1896). Henry married Nancy Ann Elizabeth Wilson in 1853 in Randolph County, Indiana, and they had nine children, including Henry Alexander Moser (1859-1926).
