My fiancé, friend, and always strong supporter, Debbie St. Clair, at the May 1976 Gonzaga Law School graduation ceremony. By this time I had received degrees from three colleges and universities, but I never went to any graduation ceremony until law school. It was a 1970s sign of the times to skip formal ceremonies.

January 14, 1977, Searing-in Ceremony at Skagit County Superior Court, by Superior Court Judges Harry Follman and Walter “Jack” Deierlin. I was presented to the court by Kenney St. Clair, a Mount Vernon lawyer and Debbie’s uncle. In those days the local bar attended the Ceremony and sat in the jury box.
