Chenneville is about a Union soldier, John Chenneville, coming home to the senseless slaughter of his sister and her family, and the struggles he goes through to find their killer. You will find yourself rooting for John to get revenge and justice for his family. The book is a compelling drama. One of the most touching parts of the story is when John enters a vacant house, and he hears a whine. It’s coming from a starving hound dog and her litter of pups.
He feeds her a deer steak, and when he leaves, the hound and her pups are following him. John puts the pups in his saddlebags with the hound following behind. When he encounters people, he asks if they need a dog. Eventually, he finds a home for all of them. Eventually, John tracks down the man who killed his sister’s family.
