“Scripture” means the Bible, which includes the Old and New Testament in several English language versions. I mostly use the New International Version (NIV) and English Standard Version (EVS) in my studies and teaching adult Sunday School. I will also use The Message by Eugene Peterson (a paraphrase), Young’s Literal Translation (YLT), and sometimes The New King James Version. The Bible is God’s word and the only perfect rule for faith, doctrine, and conduct. Sola Scriptura. For a description and introduction to the Bible, click here.
The study format is usually Logos Bible Study at Logos.com, which I have used since the MS-DOS days. My favorite Bible commentaries include The New American Commentary, commentaries by Warren W. Wiersbe (except on Revelation), and The Bible Knowledge Commentary.
This section of The Moser Files is where I will post comments on Bible passages that are interesting or a topic in my adult Sunday School at Bethany Covenant Church. There will be comments on difficult Bible text that cause questions or confusion. I don’t claim to have all the answers, but I will share what I have studied and understand. One of my favorite literary devices in scripture is the chiasmus, which has a symmetrical, repeated, or inverted structure of words and meaning. For more on chiasmus, click here.
