I enjoyed and highly recommend James by Percival Everett. James is the Adventures of Huckleberry Finn through the eyes of Jim, the slave who accompanied Huck on his Mississippi River adventure. Audible says: “Brimming with the electrifying humor and lacerating observations that have made Everett a ‘literary icon’ (Oprah Daily), and one of the most decorated writers of our lifetime, James is destined to be a major publishing event and a cornerstone of twenty-first century American literature.”
The review is a little over-the-top, but not by much. Do yourself a favor and get the Audible version, narrated by Dominic Hoffman, who brings characters alive with Southern dialect.
