Land Title has been serving Skagit and Island Counties since 1940, with the original shareholders being the local farming and producing community. I became a shareholder in the 1980s after leaving the office of Skagit County Prosecuting Attorney. I was elected to the board of directors about ten years ago and have watched the industry change and grow over the years. On May 15, the shareholders voted to sell the company’s assets to CW Title, a regional company that has been acquiring smaller title companies in Washington. It is a bittersweet decision to sell, but a profitable business move.
